DVD News—Extended Edition?

In a recent USA Today blurb about the upcoming DVD release of the Narnia film, director Andrew Adamson remarked that an extended version of the movie is in the works. The standard DVD is due out April 4 in two editions, a one-disc version and a two-disc set with 10 additional hours of bonus features.

Here's hoping it's long, has more Turkish Delight, more of a proper "explanation" by the Beavers – ooh, and more Bumpkin!, and more than the paltry twelve seconds spent on the dethawing of frozen statues! – and comparatively less fighting.

Oh, and a lot less (not even comparatively) of that Fenris Ulf meanie talking. He's scary when he says one or two words... but when he starts holding on conversations, it's horrid! And, whatsayou to the tea party being re-established and Mr. Fox not being so smug and silly? As much as I don't mind the little story detour they made with him, I'd much rather see a proper tea party for the queen to behold.

So yup, just basically do everything I ask for it – even if it requires going to reshoot certain scenes again or scenes for the first time – and I think we'll have something good on our hands here.

I'd be curious what everybody else might be hoping for in an Extended Edition. (I haven't worked up the nerve, yet, to go to the NarniaWeb/NarniaFans forums and get lost their for half a day.)

I even considered making a "Phantom Edit" of the film, splicing the best, cutting the rest. (Oh, not me personally – that's really far too much work! ;) ) I know I bemoaned and complained when others did that to "The Phantom Menace" and "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," as it compromised the artistic integrity – but here, there's another artist involved... C.S. Lewis. How about a non-exclusive version of the film solely trying to recreate the book bit-by-bit?

(Oh, and never mind the grammatical mishaps. It's a Monday.)

Personally, when i read the books and Lewis skipped the battle (basically allowing for a reader to use their imagination and let it become what THEY wanted) i always couldnt wait for the battle to be done properly, unfortunately i thaught the battle from the movie wasnt epic enough, and couldve stood to be longer and maybe with a bit more bow and arrow action from Susan, who only used that thing once!

So i'd like to see longer battle scenes, more Aslan and more Crazy Addict Edmund!
