Bootleg Czech Set Photos

A Czech-language website has published what must be some bootleg photos from the European sets of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Check 'em out (pun intended) quick, before Disney gets them pulled!

We certainly won't be republishing them. Nope. Not us. We like Disney.

Interview with Producer Mark Johnson

I knew a Mark Johnson in high school, but it wasn't this one. I did meet the producer of the Narnia series in Hollywood several months back, however, while covering the press junket for The Notebook. Johnson is a good match for the Narnia series, as he's not the least bit biased against Christianity—and in fact doesn't even see Hollywood as being overtly antagonistic toward issues of faith. And unlike many of his peers, he doesn't see a major shift in tinseltown as a result of The Passion's success.

IGN Filmforce has just published a new interview with Mr. Johnson.

JoBlo.com has posted a couple of Narnia-related interviews. They're not really new, having been conducted last fall, but JoBlo has finally gotten around to posting them—so they're new enough.

First Production Photo: The Pevensies

Well, NarniaWeb did have the first production still of the children from the first Narnia movie.

But the bad children at NarniaWeb didn't have permission to run it. So Disney very kindly asked them to take it down. And wanting to be in Disney's good graces (and legal, of course) NarniaWeb complied.

But we were on top of things at this blog. You could see it here, too, for about three hours, before Disney caught up with NarniaWeb. And that's the great thing about blogging: it was NarniaWeb's mistake, not ours! And when the picture disappeared, we were just left with white space.

But we didn't copy it! Nope! Not us. We like Disney.

More Comment from Disney's Iger

"We have high hopes for the first picture," Iger said Tuesday at the annual Global Entertainment, Media and Telecommunications Conference in Phoenix. "The studio has been working hard at creating its own 'Harry Potter' or 'Lord of the Rings' franchise and this has real franchise potential for the company."
"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe," a live-action film with computer-generated animation, began shooting in New Zealand last summer and is scheduled for release at the end of 2005.
In all, there are seven books in author C.S. Lewis' landmark series and the thinking is that a series of films could follow if the first entry connects with audiences...
