An Exclusive You Won't See Here

A certain website has today posted a bootleg copy of the Narnia trailer. Apparently, someone at the Biola Media conference snuck in a digital recorder and filmed the screening.

Please don't encourage piracy. If you find a link to the site carrying this "exclusive," don't follow it.

Whether you believe such piracy is a moral and ethical issue, or merely one of copyright law, at least have respect for the rights of others. "Consider others more important than yourself."

Narnia Trailer Reports; Cox Out

Narnia Web and Virtual Narnia are carrying reports from attendees at Biola's Media conference this weekend, at which the Narnia trailer was premiered. Both reports are quite good.

Virtual Narnia's report includes the additional news that Brian Cox will not be voicing Aslan as originally announced. The reason? Unbelievable, almost. In a recent interview, Cox mentioned that he'd finally been forced to take his health seriously and had begun to lose significant weight. As reported by Virtual Narnia, the weight loss changed his voice such that he would no longer be suitable for the voice of Aslan.

"Is this for real?" you might ask. Quite possibly. Voice-over specialists are extremely conscious of weight gain or loss, precisely because the vocal tract is very susceptible to buildup of fatty tissues. If your voice reputation has already been made, there is financial and career motivation to not change weight, whether that means avoiding weight gain or keeping the pounds on that are already there.

My hat's off to Brian Cox for going with health at the expense of his career.

The Official Website is Finally Real

Disney has taken over the reins of the official website for the Narnia movies, and it's gone live with some great new stuff—and it's all completely legit!

You'll need the latest Flash Player update for the content...

[Some notes about the Flash Player update, available from Macromedia: the instructions don't make it clear that prior to running the downloadable .exe file, you'll need to close all your open browser windows. I didn't, and in my case, trying to access the Narnia website caused my computer to lock up. Macromedia's Help Desk then advised me to download their uninstaller, uninstall Flash Player, then reinstall (making sure all browers windows were closed). I assume all that headache would have been avoided had I simply had all browers windows closed to start with.]

Narnia fans has posted a transcript of CCM magazine's February interview with Michael Flaherty, President of Walden Media. Flaherty remarks, "The director, Andrew Adamson, totally 'gets it.' Interview with Douglas Gresham

"I put together all my memory and love of Jack himself and also of Warnie and my mother (great fans of Narnia not surprisingly), everything that they taught me, my understanding of and love for the book, my understanding of the necessities of the film medium and the needs of modern human society worldwide, and I pray a lot. Once all those and other factors have come together and been thoroughly examined in the light of whatever decision is to be made, I then decide what to say..."

April Narnia Feature at Hollywood Jesus

"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

"This is what all the fuss is about.

"Published as the first volume of The Chronicles of Narnia, this story introduces us to C. S. Lewis' wardrobe, a literary device perhaps as well known as Lewis Carroll's looking glass or Aladdin's lamp. Certainly the most famous of the Narnian children's stories, it is also perhaps the most controversial.

"In this month's edition of the Hollywood Jesus Narnia coverage, we will not only revisit the basic storyline of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but we will also examine some of the more curmudgeonly assessments of the book's literary merits as well as some of the lesser-analyzed spiritual issues in the text.

"We apologize in advance for not doing fuller justice to the story's Christ allegory; but plenty has been written on that subject to date, and can be easily located elsewhere!"

Narnia for Cancer Victims

"A holiday home to help children suffering from cancer in Northern Ireland is being built at the foot of the Mourne Mountains.

"The 16-bed log cabin is designed to offer young people and their families the opportunity to learn the skills that will help them cope with their illness.

"Due for completion next month, it will be called Narnia after the magical land in the books of Belfast author CS Lewis.

"It will have recreational and dining facilities, therapy suites and a quiet room..."

NarniaWeb Debuts Costume Site

NarniaWeb has spun of a new subsection of its site and called it "The Wardrobe Door." It's a collection of webpages detailing the various costuming-related issues from the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia movies. Right now, it mostly serves as a way of organizing images from the various collectibles and promo pieces that have so far been released—but presumably, down the line it will also include detailed information about costuming resources, etc...

Resume Images from Narnia

A graphic designer with an online resume recently posted some of her work on an upcoming teaser for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We posted a link to her website a few days ago.

As of April 7, Disney has had those images pulled from the web, as they were not authorized for distribution.

So you see, we do have good cause to question whether seemingly legitimate image postings really are.

When Small Stories Get Big

As with the fuss in New Zealand late last year over the construction of roads to Narnia's location shoots, Andrew Adamson's production has apparently bent some noses in the Czech Republic for similar infractions of local rules. This time, the fines might come to, yes, 3000 Euro. Wow. The amazing thing MAY be that a production this size has bent as few noses as it has, or that it's not getting socked with bigger fines; or the really amazing thing might be that ABC really considered this news. But when big bucks (and Disney) are involved, every last little thing gets paid attention to...

Wanna See a White Stag?

I guess this article can't really be classified as movie news, since the thrust of the story is that this white stag didn't end up in the upcoming film. But the photo should give anyone who hasn't a clue what a white stag is a better idea!

The article linked below has more to say about Rocky the White Stag.
