Narnia Trailer Reports; Cox Out

Narnia Web and Virtual Narnia are carrying reports from attendees at Biola's Media conference this weekend, at which the Narnia trailer was premiered. Both reports are quite good.

Virtual Narnia's report includes the additional news that Brian Cox will not be voicing Aslan as originally announced. The reason? Unbelievable, almost. In a recent interview, Cox mentioned that he'd finally been forced to take his health seriously and had begun to lose significant weight. As reported by Virtual Narnia, the weight loss changed his voice such that he would no longer be suitable for the voice of Aslan.

"Is this for real?" you might ask. Quite possibly. Voice-over specialists are extremely conscious of weight gain or loss, precisely because the vocal tract is very susceptible to buildup of fatty tissues. If your voice reputation has already been made, there is financial and career motivation to not change weight, whether that means avoiding weight gain or keeping the pounds on that are already there.

My hat's off to Brian Cox for going with health at the expense of his career.
